In 2021, the SADC Secretariat took a significant step, with EU funding, by issuing a call for proposals. Their goal was to find a partner to raise awareness about Regional Integration within civil society across SADC states.

CANGO and LCN joined forces to strengthen Regional Integration. They aimed to enlighten civil society about integration’s benefits and establish links to the SADC Secretariat.
The core of the project was to create and share knowledge, linking Civil Society Organizations with the SADC Secretariat.
The focus areas were:
- Knowledge Generation,
- Knowledge Sharing, and
- Connecting to SADC.
Themes were rooted in SADC’s Regional Integration Thematic Areas:
- Movement of People
- Trade Integration
- Macro–Economic Integration
- Infrastructure Integration
- Productive Integration
- Political and Diplomatic Integration
- Regional Integration
SADC has long aspired to a united region. The current strategy aims to harmonize ambitions, foster collective understanding, and drive economic growth through integration.
The project aligns with six integration areas, forming the basis for exploring SADC’s integration.
SADC IICB Webinars and Online Engagements aim to:
- Raise awareness of SADC’s integration agenda.
- Create a platform for interaction among CSOs and the public in the region.
- Initiate discussions on practical SADC integration.
- Facilitate conversations about experiences, benefits, challenges, and opportunities tied to SADC integration.
- Encourage recommendations for a people-centric Regional Integration agenda.
- This initiative, driven by collaboration and determination, signifies hope and progress toward an integrated and equitable SADC region.
